I think figure 12 will disconnect the Y (which is compressor contactor) at heat pump and kick in the heating elements. It says set OT at 0 degrees to use at temps below 0 degrees but it should work at whatever temp you want heat pump to shut off at.

He said the Goodman dual fuel system (heat pump/propane furnace) was okay but would not work it's best unless I installed and outside thermostat on the heat pump. Emergency heat turns the HP off and runs just the aux. The correct thermostat for a heat pump with a gas furnace as backup needs to have "dual fuel" as a system choice.
