WEBJul 23, 2020 · There is an option for extra storage on PS5, there is a slot in the back of the console to insert an 'off the shelf' M.2 NVME SSD drive, it just has meet the performance spec (Which Sony will state which drives meet the spec after launch). But expanding storage is going to be much more expesnive with both Series X and PS5.

Seems I am paying premium for less. I also think we won't be able to remove the disc drive from the og to the new one as I feel it is all because of the plates.

WEBSep 26, 2024 · Yeah, I didn't see it directly written confirmed like the disc drive was, but it looks exactly the same and I think they mentioned the dimensions of that part are the same in one of the videos hence how the drive will fit too, so I felt pretty confident to buy the stand too back when I bought the drive after the initial announcement was made.
