This is a quite large arboretum in which you could misplace some children unless you organize the visit as a guided walk with the group in tow, fore and aft. I would suggest visiting ahead of the field trip to map out a route of an appropriate length and botany. Parking is limited, so not sure if it would accommodate a full sized bus, but vans would be fine. Cost is contributions only, so you could likely negotiate a reasonable per-student rate, e.g., $5-10 per person.

We didn't see animals at all. Just outside the arboretum is waterfall, but parking was very small, so we didn't try to hike there.
