ATP World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz entered the 2024 Rolex Paris Masters. Not only did Alcaraz start off with what many fans perceived as the easiest path to victory, but the top-ranked Jannik Sinner pulled out of the tournament at the last moment.

Frenchman Ugo Humbert harnessed the energy of the home crowd and produced one of his best career performances in beating Carlos Alcaraz 6-1, 3-6, 7-5 to reach the quarterfinals of the Paris Masters. A flurry of winners had Alcaraz 5-0 down in a first set so one-sided that Alcaraz ironically waved his racket to the crowd after holding in the sixth game.

World number two Carlos Alcaraz was knocked out of the Paris Masters by 18th-ranked Ugo Humbert of France who swept to a third round victory in three sets on Thursday. He was knocked out in the second round of the US Open by 74th-ranked Botic van de Zandschulp,
