Rescue workers discover another dead body of a labourer body trapped inside the coal mine in Assam's Dima Hasao.

Rescue operations continue in Umrangso, Assam, with four bodies recovered from a flooded coal mine, as authorities investigate the illegal operation.

This is the second body rescued by teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Indian Army and Assam Rifles. The deceased miner, whose body was recovered at 7:36 AM has been identified as Lt. Lijen Magar, (27) a resident of Kalamati village in the district.

Dewatering efforts continued for the second consecutive day on Friday at the coal mine in Assam's Dima Hasao district, where eight miners have been trapped since January 6. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed that the operations were aimed at facilitating the resumption of rescue efforts.

Rescue operations at the Dima Hasao coal mine are in full swing with NDRF using pumps to remove water. A body was recovered by divers despite murky, acidic conditions. Specialised support is crucial due to hazardous underground conditions and mining equipment hindering progress.
