Amendment 3 was not backed by at least 60% of Florida voters, meaning that recreational marijuana use will remain illegal in the state.

Following the most expensive ballot measure battle in the nation, Amendment 3 fell short. With nearly all of the vote tallied, the amendment sits at 55.9% approval, more than 4% shy of what was needed for passage, according to Associated Press data.
