Hurricane Beryl pummeled the Texas coastline as a Category 1 storm on Monday, bringing with it life-threatening winds and and major power outages. Wind speeds were reported as high as 80 mph, and flood warnings were issued across several areas of the Texas coast.

Power has been knocked out to more than 2.5 million customers in Texas as Hurricane Beryl slams the state with powerful winds and torrential rain. ABC Houston station KTRK briefly lost power in its newsroom Monday morning.

Hurricane Beryl's damage is far from over, with residents across the Caribbean and Jamaica dealing with devastation in the wake of the deadly storm.
