New Jersey State Police say the "Big Rusty" wildfire that burned in Hainesport, New Jersey is under investigation as suspicious.

A New Jersey wildfire threatened to engulf 20 homes in Burlington County on Monday night as crews fought to keep it contained. The 40-acre blaze — dubbed “Big Rusty Wildfire” — ignited in the vicinity of Bancroft Lane and Cove Court in Hainesport shortly before 6 p.

A wildfire that burned near the "Big Rusty" sculpture here is considered suspicious in origin, authorities said. The blaze, reported at approximately 4:40 p.m. Monday, spread through about 40 acres of forest along Bancroft Lane and Cove Court in Hainesport.

The New Jersey Forest Fire Service says a 40-acre wildfire in Hainesport, Burlington County, is 100% contained.

The fire, dubbed the "Big Rusty Wildfire," was 100% contained as of Wednesday, according to fire officials. The blaze burned more than 40 acres before being extinguished.
