Official are planning to hold a press conference around 10 a.m. Friday to give an update on the fire at the Eagle Point Energy Center.

An air quality alert has been issued in parts of Maine due to smoke from the still-burning fire at a trash facility in Orrington.

ORRINGTON, Maine (WABI) - It’s been nearly 24 hours since a large fire broke out at Eagle Point Energy Center in Orrington. Crews are still on scene as they work to full extinguish the fire, a job officials say could take several days to complete.

The full extent of the fire’s environmental impact is unclear at this time, but there's concern about potential threat of dioxins.
