Richard Gadd, the creator of the hit Netflix limited series “Baby Reindeer,” based on real events from the comedian’s life, became a surprise sensation at the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards despite the $170 million defamation lawsuit the show is currently facing.

Netflix’s stalker drama “Baby Reindeer” won four Emmys at Sunday night’s ceremony. Along with triumphing in the outstanding limited or anthology series category, it earned trophies for Richard Gadd as a writer and lead actor as well Jessica Gunning as a supporting actress.

Richard Gadd took home multiple Emmys on Sunday, and subsequently had to make several speeches. But the one that arguably hit the hardest was the Baby Reindeer creator's speech for winning Outstanding Writing For A Limited Or Anthology Series Or Movie, during which he gave a message of encouragement and hope for anyone going through a bad time.
