Mumbai: India's frontline stock indices opened at record levels on Thursday after the US Federal Reserve cut interest rates by 50 basis points, signalling the start of an easing cycle that may lead to further rate reductions.

The S P BSE Sensex was up 758.7 points at 83,706.93 at 9:41 am, while the NSE Nifty gained 215.40 points to trade at 25,592.95.

Indian equity benchmarks BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 climbed to fresh record highs on Thursday at pre-open, after the US Fed cut policy rates by 50bps.

The trends on Gift Nifty also indicate a positive start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 25,400 level, a premium of nearly 30 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.
