An American black bear entertained Oregon Zoo visitors by climbing more than 50 feet up a tree inside the zoo’s bear exhibit Monday afternoon.

Two La Crescenta schools were placed on a brief shelter in place order on Tuesday when a bear cub was spotted in a tree near their campuses.

For one day only, “the bear ate my homework” might be an acceptable excuse for students at a Los Angeles-area high school. An unlikely visitor showed up to Crescenta Valley High School on Tuesday in the form of a bear cub.

A bear cub was spotted hanging out in a tree near Crescenta Valley High School. Police have cleared out the area to give the bear a chance to climb down and reunite with its mother.
