Buoyed by all this Bitcoin buying, MicroStrategy has skyrocketed in value. The company's stock is up more than 100% this year, compared to 40% for Bitcoin and less than 20% for the S&P 500. Obviously, MicroStrategy's all-in Bitcoin strategy has paid off so far. But is this something individual investors should be emulating?

MicroStrategy Inc. purchased 18,300 Bitcoin for around $1.11 billion, the largest acquisition of the digital asset by the crypto hedge-fund proxy in more than three years.

Software firm MicroStrategy acquired bitcoin worth $1.11 billion between Aug. 6 and Sept 12, boosting its total holdings of the world's biggest cryptocurrency to roughly $9.45 billion. The approval of spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds by the Securities and Exchange Commission in January along with support from Wall Street and figures like Elon Musk has brought the once-nascent asset class closer to the mainstream.
