When a gunman perched atop a cliff’s ledge opened fire on a dozen cars on Kentucky’s Interstate 75, wounding five people, it permeated surrounding communities with fear – and sent one couple into the woods to join the dayslong manhunt for the assailant.

After 11 days of searching in the woods of north Laurel County, authorities say they are not close to finding Joseph Couch. They are ‘reallocating’ resources.

Remains likely belonging to 32-year-old Joseph Couch were found in the area off exit 49 of Interstate 75 in Laurel County, the same exit near which the shooting occurred, Kentucky State Police Commissioner Phillip “PJ” Burnett, Jr. said in a news conference. A weapon was also found with the body as well.
