President Emmanuel Macron is preparing to name a new prime minister almost two months after legislative elections left France in political deadlock, with an announcement possible as soon as Wednesday evening,

French President Emmanuel Macron has delayed the appointment of a new Prime Minister. Instead, he has decided to consider other candidates, according to Le Figaro journalist Louis Hausalter. Political journalist Hausalter stated that Macron is inclined to reject the candidacies of Bertrand and Cazeneuve and is looking for other options.

Cazeneuve was one of six different people from across the political spectrum to meet with Macron on Monday. Among them were Bertrand — the prime ministerial candidate from the center-right who serves as president of the Hauts-de-France region — and former presidents Nicolas Sarkozy and François Hollande.
