A Reddit user posted a thread with images (see below), saying it’s most obvious when the Kindle “is supposed to be evenly lit and colored like a piece of paper.” Many others with the same issue say they’ve exchanged their Colorsoft for a new one or simply returned it.

This week started with reports from owners of the new Kindle Colorsoft e-reader claiming that a distracting yellow band appeared at the bottom of the screen. Amazon acknowledged that they were aware of the issue.

We found that while the Kindle Colorsoft is basically a colorized Kindle Paperwhite, its screen holds another difference that made us switch our default settings.

A yellow band has been appearing at the bottom of the Kindle Colorsoft display. It looks like the bottom part of the screen is turning yellow through a gradient. Amazon has responded by adjusting the production processes to prevent this from happening in devices in production.

The Colorsoft has a 7-inch display whereas the Clara Colour has a 6-inch screen. Since the former is larger, it can fit more text on the page (depending on your font size). Reading comics on the Colorsoft is also easier thanks to the display’s size.
