Hardware may have been the main factor holding Apple back in gaming before it launched its M-series chips, but that's no longer the case. M-series chips are capable of ray tracing and plenty powerful enough to run most of the same games Windows PCs can run.

Apple wants the Mac to become a gaming destination, and it has the perfect machine to take on consoles from Sony and Microsoft in the form of the M4 Mac mini.

With a smaller size and insane processing power, the M4 Mac Mini could become the Apple gaming machine we've been waiting for.

The new Mac mini is larger than the Apple TV by a bit—5×5 inches instead of 3.66×3.66 inches—but its proportions are roughly similar. That makes its footprint significantly smaller than the old mini (and the current Studio), which was 7.75×7.75 inches. But it's also a fair bit taller: 2 inches, up from 1.4 inches.

The iMac is pretty much the same as the one Apple released last October, which is pretty much the same as the one the company released in 2021. This one just comes with an M4 instead of an M3. That’s not to say it isn’t going to be a very good computer.

The new Mac Mini M4 is one of Apple’s most promising 2024 refreshes, packing even more power into a significantly smaller design.
