Dockworkers suspend strike after reaching tentative deal until Jan. 15
The International Longshoremen's Association, the union representing striking U.S. dockworkers at East and Gulf Coast ports, reached a tentative deal Thursday to suspend its strike until Jan. 15 to negotiate a new contract. The strike had shut down 14 ports along the East and Gulf Coasts since Tuesday.
The ILA extends master contract to Jan. 15, ending strike for now
On Oct. 3, the ILA released a statement that it had come to a tentative agreement with the United States Maritime Alliance Ltd. and will extend its six-year master agreement with the organization, which expired on Sept. 30, through Jan. 15, 2025 ,while the two parties return to the negotiating table.
