Naomi Osaka has pulled out of the upcoming WTA 250 event in Osaka, Japan as her injury woes continue. The former world No. 1 was forced to retire from her China Open clash with Coco Gauff last week.

Former world No. 1 Naomi Osaka has pulled out of the Japan Open due to a back injury that forced her retirement from the China Open last week, organizers said on Monday.

In October, there are two WTA tournaments held in Japan, and Osaka hoped to attend both. The first one is the Japan Championships, also called the Kinoshita Group Japan Open for sponsorship reasons, which is a WTA 250 event running from October 14th to 20th.

Naomi Osaka has taken to social media to respond to someone calling her a ‘fluke’. The Japanese player was last seen retiring from the fourth round of the China Open due to a back problem which forced her to withdraw two games into her clash with Coco Gauff.
