Devils Stefan Noesen and his teammates jabbed and poked their sticks at the loose puck, trying desperately to give New Jersey its first lead of the game against the Detroit Red Wings on Friday. Noesen and the Devils recorded five shots in six seconds in the second period before Noesen finally got the puck past goaltender Cam Talbot.

Dougie Hamilton, Timo Meier and Jack Hughes scored on power plays as the New Jersey Devils took advantage of Detroit’s NHL-worst penalty kill in a 5-4 victory over the Red Wings on Friday.

The Red Wings worked like a light switch today. They’d be on for the first half of the period and flip off and let New Jersey score twice in the last ten minutes of both of the first two periods.
