HENDERSON COUNTY, N.C. (WSPA) — Storm preparations are underway in Western North Carolina. Crews there are not only preparing for the chance of snow and ice on the roadways, but are still cleaning up from Hurricane Helene. At the North Carolina Department of Transportation’s Henderson County Yard, crews have been preparing for a winter storm.

The NWS Blacksburg VA issued an updated winter storm warning at 3:46 a.m. on Monday. The warning is for Ashe, Alleghany and Watauga counties.

A Winter Storm Watch was issued Wednesday afternoon and it will last through Saturday morning. The watch is for Piedmont and western North Carolina, Upstate South Carolina, and portions of northeast Georgia.
