Video shows the moment a Florida driver was hit by a Brightline train. Officials said the crash happened as the driver ran through a railroad crossing while the arms were down. The train slammed into the back half of the vehicle as the driver tried to speed past. Officials said one person was hurt in the crash.

They are on leave “pending the results of an internal administrative investigation to determine if City and Fire Rescue policies and procedures were followed,” the fire chief said.

The move came at the request of the Delray Beach Police Department, which had led the investigation into the Dec. 28 wreck that injured 12 people.

After days of city officials clashing over transparency, Delray Beach released several new details Thursday evening about the Dec. 28 crash between a fire rescue ladder truck and a Brightline train. The firefighters involved in the crash were driving to a building fire at 365 SE Sixth Ave.

David Wyatt had his license suspended in October of 2023 after failing to complete driving school. Wyatt had been ordered to attend the school after driving onto a median along Atlantic Avenue and hitting a tree in June of that year.
