Arkansans in the northern half of a Little Rock suburb overwhelmingly voted Tuesday to allow some businesses to sell alcoholic beverages, a measure that supporters say will bring economic growth to the area and increase people’s access to groceries.

North Little Rock School District voters rejected the district’s proposed 4-mill districtwide property tax increase, which would have brought the mill rate from 48.3 to 52.3, according to unofficial election results available Tuesday night.

AP has called that voters defeated both Little Rock sales taxes on election night for a three-eighth cent permanent tax and a five-eighth cent 10-year tax.
