Different versions of school choice bills have recently been blocked by Texas Democrats and rural Republicans. Tuesday's election could be an indicator of what to expect in Austin come January.

Since the amendment failed, state lawmakers won’t have the power to change the state constitution and redirect public funds to private schools. Under the Kentucky Constitution, taxpayer money can fund only “common schools”, also interpreted as public schools.

While Republican candidates in the districts show support for school choice, solid opposition from Democrats could lead to significant pushback.
