A newly-named storm, named Conall, is forecast to bring heavy rain to southern England and Wales, hitting communities still cleaning up from Storm Bert. The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for rainfall in several southern areas of the UK from 22:00 GMT on Tuesday until midday on Wednesday.

The third named storm of the season could bring up to 50mm (two inches) of rain to parts of southern England today - just days after Storm Bert brought torrential rain and major disruption over the weekend.

More rain is due to fall in the coming hours and into Wednesday in southern England and south Wales, where flooding and high winds from Storm Bert have caused major disruption to homes, roads and rail networks.

The UK has been battered by Storm Bert and more flooding is likely over the next few days, according to the environment secretary. Steve Reed chaired a meeting with the Environment Agency today to discuss plans to protect communities from further flood damage.
