Terry Bridgewater return: How QB coming out of retirement gives Lions much-needed insurance behind Jared Goff
Detroit has spent the season with Hendon Hooker as Goff's backup, with Jake Fromm on the practice squad as the Lions' emergency quarterback. Hooker, a third-round pick out of Tennessee in 2023, has never made an NFL start and has only thrown nine regular-season passes. Fromm made two starts with the Giants in 2021 but didn't show any promise.
QB Teddy Bridgewater Rejoins Lions
Dan Campbell said during training camp Sudfeld was outperforming Hooker, but the Lions did not keep three QBs on their active roster. They instead cut Sudfeld, adding Jake Fromm to their practice squad a day later. Fromm serves as Detroit’s No. 3 quarterback; his status will be worth monitoring now that Bridgewater is back.
