Russia planned to use its trove of rupees to covertly buy critical supplies in India, according to leaked documents seen by the Financial Times.

Poida outlined a five-stage plan to help Russia spend its rupees and establish a steady supply of dual-use components. Russia would set up a “closed payment system between Russian and Indian companies” beyond the oversight of western countries, “including by using digital financial assets”, Poida wrote.

Russia secretly acquired sensitive goods in India and analyzed the possibility of building facilities in that country to secure the components necessary for military operations, revealed the British daily "Financial Times" on Wednesday,

Russia has been quietly building a secret trade network with India to get its hands on stuff for its war in Ukraine. Reports say that in October 2022, Russia’s industry and trade ministry spent roughly $1 billion to secure pivotal tech through hidden channels.

The newspaper Financial Times reports that Russia secretly acquired sensitive goods in India. Moscow also investigated whether it was possible to construct special facilities to secure the components needed to conduct the war.
